A patch has to disappear
Most repair work we see started as a leaking pipe, a chased socket, or a crack that was filled with the wrong material. The job is to make the surface read as one wall again, not a pale rectangle under paint.
Water-damaged plaster only gets replaced once the leak is stopped. We will not skim over a wet background. If the board behind has gone, the repair includes taking it out.
Insurance and commercial making-good is ordinary work for us. The quote says what is included so the next trade is not left filling our joints.

Plaster repair questions
Can cracked plaster just be filled?
Stable hairlines sometimes can. If the plaster sounds hollow or the crack opens with the seasons, filling it only hides the movement. We tap the area and tell you which it is.
Do you repair water-damaged plaster?
Once the leak is stopped, yes. Wet plaster and failed board come out. We will not skim over a stain and hope it dries behind the paint.
Can you make good after an electrician?
Yes. Chases, back boxes and lifted boards are taped and plastered so the decorator is not left with a grid of filler.
Will the patch show after painting?
The aim is that it does not. We take the repair out to a sound edge and skim so the new work meets the old on a plane, not a lump.
Do you work for insurers?
We do insurance making-good and can quote from a schedule or a site visit. The written price is the price, not a starting point.
