Dry Lining
Masonry walls lined with plasterboard instead of a heavy wet plaster. Useful on cold brick, uneven block, and rooms that need a clean, insulated lining.
A lining, not a disguise
Dry lining is for walls that should not take another coat of wet plaster, or that need a thermal board. We check the masonry is dry enough, then either dab or batten depending on how true the wall is.
Insulated plasterboard is a different conversation from a standard lining. It changes window reveals, sockets and the thickness at the skirt. We talk that through before the boards are ordered.
The skim still matters. A lining that is out of plumb will show in every curtain and kitchen unit that meets it.

Dry lining questions
When is dry lining better than wet plaster?
On cold or uneven masonry, or where you want insulated board. Traditional plaster still has its place on sound backgrounds. We will say which the wall wants.
Do you fit insulated plasterboard?
Yes, when it is specified. It is thicker than standard board, so reveals and sockets have to be planned. We will not stick 12mm board and call it insulation.
Will I lose room size?
A lining takes up thickness. On a small room that matters. We measure the walls and tell you the loss before you commit.
Can you line only one cold wall?
Yes. External gables are a common job. We return the lining into the reveals so you are not left with a cold strip around the window.
Is the skim included?
Yes, unless you have asked for boards only. The lining is not finished until it is skimmed.
